BLUE SKY PSYCHOTHERAPY

My name is Isla, and I am a highly experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor, currently completing an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. My work is grounded in trauma-informed practice, compassion, and respect for each person’s lived experience.

I work with adults who have experienced trauma, with particular focus on survivors of trauma, female veterans, and those involved in extreme or high-risk sports. Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience as a veteran, a skydiver and tandem instructor, and a mother.

These roles shape my understanding of responsibility, identity, resilience, and the often unseen emotional labour carried alongside high-pressure lives.

I understand how trauma can intersect with motherhood, service, performance, and the body and how holding multiple roles can leave little space to process what has been endured. I offer a non-judgemental, collaborative space where we can work at a pace that feels safe for you, without expectation or pressure.

I work exclusively online, offering confidential sessions with flexible availability, including early-morning appointments to fit around family life, training, work, or operational commitments.

About me

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor, currently completing an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute, one of the UK’s leading psychotherapy training organisations. My work is grounded in trauma-informed practice and shaped by both professional training and lived experience.

Alongside my clinical work, I bring a background as a veteran, which informs my understanding of resilience, identity, and the psychological impact of high-pressure environments. I work with adults experiencing trauma, including survivors of sexual violence, bereavement, anxiety, and depression, offering a safe, non-judgemental space to explore what has been endured and what may now be needed.

My approach is integrative and collaborative, meaning therapy is tailored to each individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all model. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel heard, respected, and supported at their own pace.

I hold a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, alongside CPCAB Level 2 and 3 qualifications in counselling. I am registered with both the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I work in accordance with their ethical frameworks.

What does therapy entail?

You might be functioning well on the outside, yet feel on edge, disconnected, or exhausted inside. You may be used to pushing through, minimising your own needs, or staying in control even when things feel overwhelming. Therapy can offer space to slow down, make sense of what’s been held, and begin to feel more at ease.

I offer one-to-one online and phone sessions that will last 50 minutes. During these sessions we can use the time to explore whatever you would like, and we can adapt the sessions to align with your needs.

I combine a supportive, non-judgemental style with being appropriately challenging.

I help clients to gain insight into themselves and their relationships.

I work collaboratively to empower clients to gain a sense of agency over their lives and relationships.

My fees are £60 per session either online or in Person in the North East of England. I offer a free initial phone call to discuss your needs to ensure that we are able to work together. You can use this time to ask any questions that you may have about the therapy.

If this seems like it may be of interest then please feel free to get I touch via my contact form to discuss further.
